Much More than a Standard Device: Drive Amplifier with Know-how Protection and Customized Hardware and Software Design
SIEB & MEYER on the trade fair SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2012
From November 27 to 29, 2012 SIEB & MEYER presents the latest version of the innovative drive platform SD3 for customized applications on the SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2012 trade fair in Nuremberg. The compact all-in-one solution comes with an open system architecture for individual realization of control, drive and visualizing tasks.
There is a wide range of applications for servo amplifiers and frequency converters, many of which use proven standard technology successfully. Occasionally the requirements are very specific, though and only customized solutions can meet them fully. SIEB & MEYER specializes in such customized solutions providing powerful and application-specific functions and designs. With the latest version of the drive platform SD3 that was introduced last year SIEB & MEYER pursues its concept of individual drive solutions.
In cooperation with the user-to-be the required functions of the hardware and software are accurately defined at first, then the SD3 is designed according to these requirements. This makes optimal adapting of the construction, the dimensions and the interfaces possible and last but not least permits the electric performance dimensioning adapted to the specific conditions of the application and the site of operation.
Open Operating System to Protect User Know-how
The drive amplifier has an open operating system. By means of the provided function libraries the user is able to realize the functions required for his core competences independently, thus protecting his know-how very effectively. The configuration can be implemented on the basis of C/C++ or optionally via IEC 61131.
In addition to the extensive libraries for the operation of synchronous and asynchronous motors other software functions are available. These functions concern user interfaces, statistics, camera integration, communication and data storage. Beside the various opportunities to individualize and adapt the device, the drive platform SD3 offers several other features not provided by conventional drive amplifiers.
The integrated web server permits the direct access to the drive amplifier anywhere and at any time for programming or diagnosis purposes and bug fixing. Operating the SD3 directly on site, however, is also simple and user-friendly: An operator panel can be connected directly via USB port. Thus, a PC is not required for operation and visualization.
