SIEB & MEYER AG and SKF announce collaboration

Press releases

Built by SKF, Powered by SIEB & MEYER

SIEB & MEYER AG will contribute its frequency converter technology to a strategic partnership with SKF Magnetic Mechatronics based in Saint Marcel (France). The two companies plan to collaborate on developing new, high-performance drive solutions on the basis of high-speed motors with magnetic bearings. These demanding systems are used, for example, in compressors, turbo blowers and HVAC technology.

For outfitting its systems, SKF takes over the licensed production of the frequency converters at the company's international production facilities. The Lueneburg-based high-speed specialists are still responsible for dimensioning, design and control technology of the frequency converters. SIEB & MEYER multilevel converters of series SD2M/SD4M provide the technological basis for this collaboration. The result is a solution "built by SKF, powered by SIEB & MEYER".

Thanks to the collaboration with SIEB & MEYER, SKF will be able to offer its customers optimized complete packages consisting of high-speed electric motors and precisely adapted frequency converters in the future. For mechanical engineers and system integrators, these powerful plug-and-play solutions open up tangible benefits: less interface coordination, more technical clarity and, above all, optimized interaction of all components.

"The partnership between SKF Magnetic Mechatronics and SIEB & MEYER represents a powerful alignment of expertise," explained Markus Meyer, CEO of SIEB & MEYER AG. “By integrating SIEB & MEYER’s advanced inverter technology into SKF’s high-speed motor systems, we’re delivering a smarter, more efficient solution that meets the evolving demands of HVAC, air compressor, and blower applications. Together, we’re setting a new benchmark for performance and reliability.”

“By combining our magnetic mechatronics capabilities with Sieb & Meyer’s VFD [variable frequency drive] technology, we’re creating a new standard for high-speed motor systems. This partnership allows us to offer a more complete and efficient solution to our customers,” said Frederic Ponson, director of SKF Magnetic Mechatronics.

That means, other applications will also benefit from the integrated approach in the future. The two partners have, for example, boil-off gas (BOG) compressors and spindle drive systems in mind.
