With a Convincing Vocational Training Concept to a Podium Position – and Even as Far as to China

Vocational Training at SIEB & MEYER AG

Again two graduates of SIEB & MEYER made it to the ranking list of IHK (German chamber of commerce and industry) in the Lüneburg-Wolfsburg region. This confirms the training concept of the Lueneburg based company, which is continually expanded and adapted: This year, for example, the first time ever one of the trainees had the chance to work six weeks at the Chinese office of SIEB & MEYER.

For many years now the SIEB & MEYER trainees have been ranking high on the annual IHK lists – 2014 is not an exception: Philipp Steinke and his colleague Kira Fuhrmeister have achieved the first and the second ranks as electronics engineers for devices and systems. The festivity took place at the end of September in the Congress Union Celle where, 36 women and 67 men were honored. They held their ground against a great many competitors: This year about 4,600 trainees of 112 professions took their final exams in the Lüneburg-Wolfsburg chamber of IHK. IHK honored the three best examinees of each profession.

"We are proud of the achievements of our graduates. They have demonstrated remarkable commitment", says Markus Meyer, CEO at SIEB & MEYER. "But we are also proud of our training concept that has proven well for many years now." The Lueneburg based company will not rest on its laurels, though – the training program is continually refined, for example, with a work experience abroad: Falk Mannes (20) was the first trainee to work in Shenzhen, China, for six weeks in August and September. SIEB & MEYER handles service orders of the Asian customers in Shenzhen. "I assisted a colleague with repair works and the following device checks", says the future electronics engineer for devices and systems, who completes his fourth year of training at present. "Thereby, I learned a lot about the processes in the service business and also gained some insight into another culture. Last but not least, my English has improved much."

SIEB & MEYER not only offers trainee positions for electronics engineers for devices and systems but also for IT specialists (system integration). The company specialized in drive and control technology provides a training department with a state-of-the-art training laboratory.
