Synergies for Powerful High-Speed Applications
For 20 years now, the two German companies SIEB & MEYER AG (Lueneburg) and KISSING GmbH (Hattingen) have been working together on the sales of drive solutions for high-speed applications. The cooperation started in 2006 and quickly developed into a permanent and very productive partnership. Together the two companies attend machine manufacturers and users with challenging applications – from machine tools to test benches, compressors, pumps, turbines and ORC processes.
The cooperation began during a period when SIEB & MEYER expanded its product portfolio and sales activities in the field of high-speed frequency converters. As a basis, the company could draw on its high-speed know-how from many years of experience in PCB processing, which it systematically transferred to the machine tool market. KISSING contributed the necessary market and local presence in the machine tool sector.
In the following years, the joint business continued to grow steadily. Besides classic machine tools, more and more high-speed applications were equipped. Some of the major technological milestones were drives for aluminum machining with power ratings of more than 120 kW, high-speed drives with roller bearings and speeds up to 300,000 rpm and sensorless safety technology to implement the requirements of the European Machinery Directive.
An established sales representative for drive technology
Today, KISSING is an established sales representative for SIEB & MEYER drive technology in the west of Germany – the sales region stretches from Saarland to Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and the west of Lower Saxony up to the North Sea coast. This closeness to customers and markets provides important insights for further development of existing solutions. In the future, the collaboration will continue to focus on new industrial applications, energy-saving drive concepts and ongoing optimization of existing high-speed applications.
"Besides their expertise and closeness to our mutual customers, we particularly value our close collaboration and the open exchange with the KISSING team," pointed Markus Finselberger out, head of sales drive technology at SIEB & MEYER. “We would like to express our sincere thanks for this commitment and look forward to many more successful years.”
In addition to the technological expertise of its partner, KISSING also values the human interaction. "SIEB & MEYER has an exceptionally broad expertise in high-speed applications and is a technological pioneer in several areas – for example, in sensorless operation of permanent magnet synchronous machines or with multilevel technology for high-speed applications," said Thomas Faßbender, managing director of KISSING GmbH. “Apart from that, we have been experiencing a great deal of openness for feedback in the market for many years. That also played an important role for the ongoing development for our joint activities.”
Synergies through the combination of drive technology and spindle technology
A special aspect of the collaboration arises from the holistic view of the drive chain. "The spindle and the frequency converter form an inseparable unit," explained Thomas Faßbender. "Since we represent both the drive technology by SIEB & MEYER and the suitable spindle technology we can work with our customers to take a holistic approach. This enables the development of high-speed and cutting solutions where all components interact optimally."
