Three-level Technology for Highest Efficiency
Where conventional converters reach their limits, the area of application for the SD4M series by SIEB & MEYER begins. The powerful frequency converters come with modern multilevel technology, which is particularly suitable for motor-driven and generator-driven high-speed applications with high output powers. The outcome: extremely low motor losses and maximized overall efficiency.
High power range – wide variety of uses
SIEB & MEYER offers SD4M variants in the range from 62 to 490 kW or from 100 to 800 A rated current. The series therefore covers a wide range of demanding applications – for example in turbo compressors and blowers, rotating energy storage units (flywheel) or ORC systems for the recovery of residual energy. Thanks to the multiprotocol real-time Ethernet interface (PROFINET IO, EtherCAT, POWERLINK, etc.), the converter is easily integrated in systems with higher-ranking control. The variants with DC supply enable particularly efficient operation in combination with external regenerative power supply units.
Multilevel technology for maximum energy efficiency
Device-specific switching frequencies of up to 32 kHz combined with the SD4M multilevel technology ensure excellent current quality. The advantage: minimum losses in the motor, significantly increased efficiency and reduced heating – all without additional sine-wave filters or chokes. In addition, the insulation of the motor is protected, which both increases service life and allows the use of longer motor cables.
Optionally optimized for turbo applications
When used in turbo compressor or blowers, an optimized SD4M version is available: active magnetic bearings can be supplied with the required DC voltage via clamp connections – this voltage is maintained for braking in the event of malfunctions. Another application field of the SD4M is the dynamic control of IPM motors, which offers additional degrees of freedom in the system design.
Cooling systems as required
The standard SD4M models are water-cooled, but air-cooled versions are available upon request. SIEB & MEYER has applied for NRTL/CSA certification for all variants – this creates the prerequisite for unrestricted use on the US market.
