Drive controller SD4B by SIEB & MEYER

Press releases
SIEB-MEYER-SD4B-Multitalent

Now Even More Powerful and Versatile

Compact design, maximum performance: drive controllers of the SD4B series by SIEB & MEYER are among the most versatile solutions for the operation of low-voltage drives. Whether rotary or linear servo motors, whether high-speed synchronous or asynchronous motors – the devices are well-proven as high-dynamic servo drives and as frequency converters in a wide range of high-speed-applications. In addition to the standard version, a high-current variant is now available, which opens up further fields of applications.

More power with the same slim design

With the SD4B series, SIEB & MEYER combines comprehensive functionality with an extremely space-saving IP20 housing. In addition to the standard version with 10 A@80 VDC, SIEB & MEYER now offers a high-current variant with 13 A@48 VDC. Despite the higher rated current, the housing dimensions – including the small width of only 25 mm – remain the same. This makes the series ideal for applications with limited installation space.

Safe, network-capable and easy to integrate

All models come with the safety function Safe Torque Off (STO) as standard. The communication can be established via CANopen and Modbus TCP. An optional multiprotocol real-time Ethernet interface is available for flexible communication between the higher-ranking control via EtherCAT (CoE), PROFINET IO or POWERLINK. In addition, SD4B provides a TTL encoder input and output as well as five digital I/Os for the integration in existing systems. Via an Ethernet interface, users can conveniently parameterize the device.

Both sensorless operation and sensor-based control possible

In the high-speed range, SD4B operates as frequency converter either sensorless or sensor-based with TTL encoders. The device series supports synchronous motors up to 240,000 rpm and asynchronous motors up to 360,000 rpm. When operating several motors, these are synchronized precisely to the angle with master-slave connection – an ideal function in the field of optical system. In addition, the robust speed control can cope with high mass inertia ratios of up to 1:100 between motor and tool.

Ready for the global market

Thanks to their NRTL/CSA certification, users can integrate devices of the SD4B series into US systems without any additional approvals. As a result, SIEB & MEYER offers a future-proof solution for globally active machine and plant manufacturers.
