Enhanced Functions for the Frequency Converter Series SD2S
SIEB & MEYER Launches Optimzed Models
SIEB & MEYER has given its frequency converters of the series SD2S a facelift: The revised devices with enhanced functions and partly smaller design will be available by mid-year. A downward compatibility for the currently available frequency converters is guaranteed and customers can easily switch to the newer models.
"Discussion with our customers have shown that a function enhancement of the series SD2S would open up additional fields of applications," Torsten Blankenburg, CTO at SIEB & MEYER AG, explains. "In addition, the new and optimized frequency converters will be able to meet today's requirements regarding functionality and reliability even better."
The SD2S variants in the power range of 15 - 55 kVA have been revised. A new feature is the possibility to connect an external brake resistor and thus, increase the braking power. An optimized device cooling reduces the probability of failure when the device is operated in a polluted atmosphere. Additionally, variants with an EtherCAT interface will be available to support the currently most popular fieldbus system in automation technology. Moreover, the construction volume was further reduced for the models 20 and 30 kVA. With only 17.6 liters (to previously 18.9 liters) the frequency converters need even less space in the switch cabinet.
However, a few things remain the same: All connectors and mounting parts are compatible to existing devices. The article numbers remain and only the device version is changed to ensure further use of already existing parameter sets. Hence, an easy switch to the new frequency converters of an ongoing series or in case of replacement is ensured.
