The Challenges

Due to their design, a large number of technologies in the field of waste energy usage or mechanical energy storage require high-speed motors and generators. Additionally, it must be possible to feed the electricity into the grid according to the local grid code. Standard frequency converters are not capable to drive high-speed motors adequately as they do not provide the necessary high rotating field frequency. The frequency converters by SIEB & MEYER are customized for operating high-speed motors with a low rotor volume. They provide the necessary rotating field frequencies and guarantee a low heating of the motor or generator by means of special control technologies. The motor heating has a significant impact on the system's efficiency and the service life of motors, generators and bearings. Furthermore, the frequency converters can be combined with a mains inverter to create a feed-in system.
